, illinois, california, and new york, the democrats are going to pick up 104 electoral college there and they did nothing there except go there for fund-raisers. that just shows you how sure we have of these states that are so blue and so red. but it's those nine states that we're talking about. that's what it's going to come down to, those nine battleground states and they are all-- with the possible exception of ohio-- all within the margin of error right now. >> pelley: norah, what do you see going into election tonight? >> one of the things i think is interesting is how much of the country has voted today before election day, the so-called early vote. it's been growing over the years. today we've seen more than 30 million people have turned out at the polls. interestingly enough, scott, the battleground state where this early vote has turned out. look at this. colorado, 77% has already voted. nevada. 72%. north carolina, 63% has already voted. in florida 53%. iowa 44%. and ohio 31%. john dickerson and i were talking about this earlier today. we could have most of the result

analysts office, california now faces a much smaller deficit of $1.9 billion for the next fiscal year which ends in july. we could even see surpluses by 2014 a big change from the deficit projected this year. it counts increased revenues by prop 30 approved by voters last week. >>> jerry brown risked his political future pushing for prop 30 but has been scrambling this week trying to avoid voter backlash. cbs 5 political reporter grace lee on how he has gone all out to prevent ill-timed tuition hikes. >> reporter: the governor was front and center in the days leading up to the election. he had his hand out saying we need billions of dollars for schools and for our universities saying we need that or else. so with voters consenting to increased taxes just last week those tuition hikes could really have been a political embarrassment for the governor. >> we have some breathing room. proposition 30 gives significant revenue over 7 years. >> reporter: and that means no tuition increases for uc students at least for now. it's a small victory for the governor after the csu board made a similar mo

was in town for an appearance at oracle arena tomorrow. >>> california may soon have a budget surplus. the legislative budget analyst says the deficit will be about $1.9 billion this fiscal year and we could see a surplus by 2014. more revenue will come from the prop 30 tax hike, which voters approved last week. stay with us, traffic and weather coming right up. ,, ,,,,,,,, >>> good morning. we're following a couple of different incidents including two separate accidents, one eastbound lanes of 92 approaching ralston. you can see it's pretty slow across the stretch. also along the peninsula northbound 101 right before san tomas expressway. one lane is blocked. and we're seeing a long line of red traffic sensors just behind that accident. else where, here's a look at the nimitz, this is a problem since about 7:30 this morning. it's been jammed up. we had one earlier crash actually in the opposite direction southbound 880 approaching embarcadero. but it's the northbound lanes, it's stop and go from hayward to downtown oakland. similar story for the milpitas ride. you can see just a few
